The nature trail is an inspiring, rejuvenating place. The Sea is visible from the top of the rath and the Nanny Estuary and its birdlife can be enjoyed from all angles including our birdhide. This has recently had a lick of paint thanks to volunteers from Conservation Volunteers Fingal and now it blends in beautifully.
You will notice that parts of the hawthorn hedge (at the top of the path by the road), have been layed. This was done back in February by a team expertly guided by the Hedge Laying Association of Ireland.
An outdoor classroom has been installed by Conservation Services (www.conservationservices.ie)
This was gratefully funded by Local Agenda 21 and will provide a useful location for outdoor learning during our school tours.
In 2008, volunteers from Malta Services were delighted to find a Pale Tussock Moth caterpillar when they were picking up the fallen apples while some of our overseas volunteers from Voluntary Services International found the beautiful Phaliota Squarrosa fungus in the wild garden
